CESTAT holds Later Pre-deposit Cannot Cure Earlier Appellate Default

ECI-BJCL JV challenged a ₹43.86 lakh service tax demand but failed to comply with a 50% pre-deposit directed by the Commissioner (Appeals). CESTAT held that the later amendment reducing the mandatory pre-deposit to 10% was prospective and could not cure the earlier default.
