Delay invites accountability

The Delhi High Court has sent a strong message against administrative inaction. Holding that taxpayers cannot be made to suffer because of departmental delays, the Court questioned the 13-year retention of seized jewellery and refunds, directed their release, and called for a detailed explanation from the Assessing Officer.
